Tune-up Race

An unofficial Tune-Up race is scheduled for Saturday, June 28. This race is a shake-down race to get the kinks out of your crew and boat and for fun only. Results will not be recorded.

Launch Party

Everyone is invited to the annual Launch Party at Siqvelands' following the second race on Saturday, July 5th. This is a great chance to get together and say hello for another summer and talk sailing and racing.

At the awards ceremony after the last race last summer the idea of a beach party and an event to create interest around Ten Mile in racing was discussed. Those present liked the idea and would like to make plans with the group. We look forward to setting a date!

More Race Courses...A Test!

Some sailors (including myself) have expressed enthusiasm for expanding the course layouts available to us for any given race. (See Course Designations). It's a nice system used by other sailing clubs. If we all like the idea of more course options, and testing this procedure, we will test it during the Memorial Cup on July 19th. If the test works well, and the members like the course options, it will become the regular procedure for choosing and communicating the course for each race. This will be part of our discussion at the Launch Party on July 5th!

2002 Race Summary

Click here for race scores from 2002.

Fourth of July - July 6th

Eleven boats competed on this clear day with winds out of the west 6-8 mph and temps in the mid-80's.

Jeffrey Willis, with son Jeff crewing, had a great day with a 2nd and a 1st respectively in the two races. Nice job!

Bob Crabb (Christopher Sweeny crewing) took 4tha dn 2nd to capture 2nd for the day and the Siqvelands came in 3rd having finished 3rd and 4th across the two races.

Memorial Cup - July 28th

Weather conditions were poor this day as the NW wind was light at 2-4 mph and the skies were overcast with occasional rain. Still, the fleet again included eleven boats for two races.

Ki Hoffman, with Byron, Marie and Gibbon as crew, had a very impressive day - taking 1st in both races for a perfect 2000 points. Mimi Carlson, with the help of Robb Higgens, came in 2nd overall with her 3rd and 2nd places. Mimi was followed by Tom Brandt Jr., with his Dad crewing.

Moxness Cup - August 3rd

Although the skies were overcast it was a very good sail! Fourteen boats competed in the 7-11 mph winds. We hada tie for 1st place with two boats winning both a 1st and a 2nd in two races.

Tom Brandt, Jr. (with his Dad - Tom - and cousin Ben crewing) was one of the boats capturing 1952 points and Chad Thomas, with the help of Jeff Bates was the other team at 1952 points. Great Job! We also had a tie for 2nd place with Ki Hoffman (Byron and Luke crew) the first of two boats to earn a 3rd and a 4th place and 1779 points. Pete Roberts was the other with his friend Rich Becher as his crew.

Third place went to Mimi Carlson with the help of Sara and Charlie Brandt.

August Summer Series - August 17th

The skies were clear this day with moderate westerly winds at 3-7 mph.

A small fleet of seven boats sailed in a very close pair of races. Ki Hoffman squeaked through with 1st place for the day with total points of 1909 for a 1st and a 3rd in the two races. Tom Brandt, with Tom Jr. crewing, earned 1904 points for two 2nds for the day. Mimi Carlson came in 3rd place including a 1st in race two and a total of 1870 points.

A special thanks to Mimi and family for hosting the awards ceremony after the second race. It's a great tradition we hope to continue in 2003!

Thanks also to Ivar Siqveland and his crew including Tom Moore, John Hallberg, Peg Siqveland and others for the extra effort they put in as the race committee!
