9/24/2014: "Excavation for the foundation of the new Arthur's
began at about 7:00 AM yesterday morning. Carl Peterson is the one in the black
T-shirt. His wife, Sherri, is the tall woman with the pony-tail. Carl Schrupp,
brother of Raymond Schrupp, drove the back hoe. That's me posing for fun in the
cab of the back hoe. The work began with the skinning of the topsoil, the
extraction of the footings of the old restaurant, then the excavation-proper.
Beginning to dig at about 7:30, by 7:00 in the evening the hole was complete,
and the rebar for the reinforcement of the footings was positioned. Formation of
the forms for the footings begins today; pouring will occur probably on Friday.
Great weather here for work.

Carl Peterson, his brother Jerry, Jerry's son Caleb, and the
crew completed the forms for the footings, and at about 3:00 PM the concrete
trucks began to arrive. Across the highway, huge trucks streamed onto the septic
drainfield site all day to dump load after load of washed sand, which Rick Smith
of Northland Septic moved into position for the four new mounds that are being
built there as part of the renovated and upgraded septic system.
